ASTRO BOY (1980) Returns to RetroCrush March 13, Alongside Two Tezuka Productions Titles

The classic anime Astro Boy (1980) returns to streaming on RetroCrush beginning March 13, 2026 in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories.

Announcement

RetroCrush today announced the return of Astro Boy (1980) to the RetroCrush streaming platform on March 13, 2026, bringing the legendary anime created by Osamu Tezuka back to audiences across North America.

Alongside Astro Boy, RetroCrush will release two additional titles from the Tezuka Productions catalog on the same day: Dear Brother and Hakugei: Legend of the Moby Dick, both directed by acclaimed anime director Osamu Dezaki. Black Jack: The Complete OVA Series releases on April 3, 2026.

These titles join RetroCrush’s growing library of classic anime available for streaming in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories.

Series Synopses

ASTRO BOY (1980)

A crime-fighting young robot named Atom finds himself battling the harsh realities of the world in his pursuit of justice.

DEAR BROTHER

16-year-old Nanako Misonoo, who attends a prestigious academy, deals with the drama and gossip of high school life via writing letters to her brother.

The series is based on the manga by Riyoko Ikeda, creator of The Rose of Versailles, whose work has had a lasting influence on shōjo manga and anime.

HAKUGEI: LEGEND OF THE MOBY DICK

The year is 4699 and spaceships are drifting in space that goes by the name “Whales.” Lucky is a young child who goes to Ahab and wants him to rescue Mohd, his home planet.

The series will be available in both English and Japanese.

Additional Tezuka Productions Titles on RetroCrush

RetroCrush continues to expand its catalog of classic anime from Tezuka Productions. The platform recently released the remastered anime film Prime Rose: A Time Slip of 10000 Years through licensing partnerships with AnimEigo and MVD Entertainment Group.

RetroCrush will also release Black Jack: The Complete OVA Series in HD on April 3, 2026. Directed by Osamu Dezaki and based on the manga by Osamu Tezuka, the series will be available in both Japanese and English.
